Unter dem Titel „Fraunhofer Space Community Workshop“ sollen die Technologiebedarfe („Technology Gaps“) von Unternehmen und technische Hürden auf dem Weg zur Marktreife von Produkten und Dienstleistungen identifiziert werden. Ziel ist die passgenaue Vernetzung mit Fraunhofer-Instituten und nach Möglichkeit die Ableitung von Projektideen und die Einreichung von Anträgen in relevanten Förderprogrammen (z.B. Innospace Masters, ESA/DLR, Horizon Europe, etc.)

Der Workshop findet einen Tag vor der Eröffnung der Space Tech Expo 2023 statt, so dass Unternehmen ihren Messebesuch ideal mit einer Teilnahme an dem Workshop kombinieren können. Im Nachgang des Workshops kann ein vertiefender Austausch zu Projektideen während der Messe erfolgen.

Fraunhofer AVIATION & SPACE ist ein Zusammenschluss von mehr als 30 Instituten der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, die im Bereich Luft- und Raumfahrt angewandte Forschung betreiben. Die Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft hat sich die Aufgabe gesetzt, die kommerzielle Nutzung neuer Technologien zu unterstützen. Dies geschieht, indem Unternehmen notwendiges Fachwissen und Infrastruktur zur Verfügung gestellt wird, die für die Entwicklung bis zur Marktreife notwendig ist.

Der Workshop wird neben einem allgemeinen Teil in parallelen Sessions mehrere Schwerpunktthemen behandeln:

Session 1: AI for Space Applications
Session 2: Small Scale Satellites
Session 3: Space Robotics / Space Debris
Session 4: Satellite Communications
Session 5: 3D Printing in Space/on the moon & Micro Launcher

Jedes Start-Up bzw. KMU sollte während des Workshops in Kurzform die technologischen Herausforderungen im Rahmen eines Impulsvortrags darstellen und nach Möglichkeit auch passende Förderprogramme benennen.

Zielgruppe: Die Teilnahme ist möglich für Unternehmen mit direktem Bezug zur Raumfahrt. Zur Zielgruppe gehören aber auch jene Unternehmen, die aus anderen Branchen kommen, aber eine Anwendbarkeit ihrer Produkte oder Dienstleistungen im Space-Bereich für möglich halten und hierfür technische Herausforderungen identifiziert haben und diese vorstellen möchten. Alle Start-Ups sollten über ein Produkt oder eine Dienstleistung verfügen, welches noch keine Marktreife besitzt (i.d.R. TRL < 3). Ziel einer Kooperation mit Fraunhofer sollte die Entwicklung der Lösung bis zu einem TRL 7 oder 8 sein.

In cooperation with Fraunhofer AVIATION & SPACE, ZENIT and partner organizations of the Enterprise Europe Network are organizing for the second time an international technology workshop for start-ups and young companies in the context of Space Tech Expo 2023.

Under the title "Fraunhofer Space Community Workshop ", the workshop aims to identify the technology needs ("Technology Gaps") of start-ups and SMEs, and the technical hurdles on the path to market maturity of their products and services. The goal is to foster networking with the Fraunhofer institutes and, ideally, to collaborate on project ideas and submit applications to relevant funding programs (e.g. Innospace Masters, ESA/DLR, Horizon Europe, etc.).

The workshop will take place the day before the opening of Space Tech Expo 2023, allowing companies to combine their visit to the trade fair with participation in the workshop. After the workshop, an in-depth exchange on project ideas can take place during the trade fair.

Fraunhofer AVIATION & SPACE is an association of more than 30 institutes of the Fraunhofer society that conduct applied research in the field of aerospace. The Fraunhofer Society has set itself the task of supporting the commercial use of new technologies. This is done by providing companies with the necessary expertise and infrastructure required to develop such technologies to market maturity.

The workshop will consist of both general sessions and parallel sessions covering several key topics:

During the workshop, each start-up or SME should briefly present their technological challenges in the context of an elevator pitch and, if possible, also identify suitable funding programs.

Target group: Participation is possible not just for Space start-ups and SMEs, but also for companies from other industries who consider their products or services applicable in the space sector, and that would like to present their technical challenges. All start-ups should have a product or service that is not yet ready for the market (usually TRL < 3). The goal of a cooperation with Fraunhofer should be to develop the solution up to TRL 7 or 8.
