European funding programmes are considered challengingly complex and deter many potential applicants. The so-called Cascade Funding Calls are pleasantly different. Embedded in the current framework programme for research and innovation (Horizon Europe #HorizonEU), they offer small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups funding amounts of up to 200,000 euros per company, even without an alliance partner. On average, there are five new calls every month, which are usually open for three months. Companies usually receive feedback on their applications after one to two months.
